Birləşmiş Ərəb Əmirlikləri eSIM haqqında Tez-tez Verilən Suallar

eSIM ilə telefon nömrəsi verilirmi?
Xeyr. eSIM-lərimiz yalnız mobil internet üçündür, buna görə də telefon nömrəsi ilə gəlmir. Onlardan internetə çıxış üçün istifadə edirsiniz: xəritələr, WhatsApp, e-poçt, sosial media, striminq və istənilən digər tətbiq. Mövcud SIM kartınız öz telefon nömrənizi aktiv saxlayır.
Zəng edə, zəng qəbul edə, mətn mesajları (SMS) göndərib ala bilərəmmi?
Adi zənglər və SMS mümkün deyil, çünki eSIM yalnız mobil internet təqdim edir. WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram, Signal və ya Messenger kimi eSIM-in interneti ilə işləyən tətbiqlər vasitəsilə istədiyiniz qədər zəng edə və mesaj yaza bilərsiniz. Həmin SIM kartı aktiv saxladığınız müddətcə adi zənglər və SMS öz operatorunuz vasitəsilə həmişəki nömrənizdə işləməyə davam edir.
Birləşmiş Ərəb Əmirlikləri üçün nə qədər data lazımdır?
Bu, seçdiyiniz plandan asılıdır. Müştərilərimizin müddəti bitmiş təxminən 3.000 eSIM-i arasında tipik eSIM planının yarısından üçdə ikisinə qədərini istifadə edib, kiçik planlarda (1-5 GB) isə təxminən hər üç eSIM-dən biri planın hamısını istifadə edib. Xəritələr və mesajlaşma az data işlədir; video, video zənglər və internet paylaşımı ən çox işlədir. Əmin deyilsinizsə, bir ölçü böyük planı seçin. Data bitərsə, istənilən vaxt yeni eSIM ala bilərsiniz - onu quraşdırmaq üçün WiFi lazım olacaq.
Birləşmiş Ərəb Əmirlikləri-da hansı şəbəkə sürətləri alacağam?
Birləşmiş Ərəb Əmirlikləri eSIM-iniz yerli mobil şəbəkədən istifadə edir: 4G, şəbəkənin təklif etdiyi yerlərdə isə 5G. Sürət əhatə dairəsindən və olduğunuz yerdən asılıdır.
eSIM-imi hotspot/tethering üçün istifadə edə bilərəm?
Bəli, lakin yalnız sabit data həcmi olan data paketləri üçün. Limitsiz paketlər hotspot və ya tethering dəstəkləmir.
Birləşmiş Ərəb Əmirlikləri eSIM-imi nə vaxt quraşdırmalıyam?
eSIM-inizi evdə hələ WiFi olduğu halda quraşdırın - hər iki plan növü üçün bunu günlər əvvəldən etmək təhlükəsizdir. GB üzrə planlar yalnız eSIM Birləşmiş Ərəb Əmirlikləri ərazisində şəbəkəyə ilk dəfə qoşulduqda başlayır. Limitsiz planlar ödəniş zamanı seçdiyiniz səyahət tarixləri üzrə işləyir və günlər eSIM quraşdırılıb-quraşdırılmamasından asılı olmayaraq seçdiyiniz başlanğıc tarixindən hesablanır - ona görə həmin tarixə qədər telefonunuzda olduğuna əmin olun.

Staying connected in Dubai: the local guide

Desert: extreme summers (40-45C Jun-Sep, life moves indoors), glorious winters (24-30C Nov-Mar) - winter is peak season

Dubai is one of the best-connected cities on the planet. The UAE's two networks - Etisalat (now branded e&) and du - run some of the world's fastest 5G, and your eSIM rides one of them as its host network. In practice that means strong, fast data everywhere you will actually be: Downtown and the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, JBR, Deira's souks, Palm Jumeirah, and - unusually for a metro system - inside the Dubai Metro too, including the underground sections through the old town. The city is built for phones; the network keeps up.

The one thing Dubai blocks: VoIP calls

This is the honest part most guides bury. The UAE restricts internet voice and video calling on local networks: WhatsApp calls, FaceTime and regular Skype calls typically will not connect, and because your eSIM uses the local Etisalat or du network for data, it does not bypass the block. What still works, without any fuss: all WhatsApp messaging (texts, photos, voice notes, videos), email, maps, social media and streaming. For actual voice and video calls, download Botim before you fly - it is the licensed calling app everyone in the UAE uses, and it works fine on your eSIM data. Business platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams have been permitted since 2020 and generally work too. VPNs sit in a legal grey zone in the UAE; Botim is the no-drama answer.

The apps that need data here

  • Careem is the ride app Dubai actually runs on (Uber works too, and owns Careem, but Careem has the local coverage and also does food and grocery delivery). Taxis are metered and honest, but hailing via app beats the street in 40-degree heat.
  • RTA / S'hail and nol Pay: the metro, tram and buses use the Nol card - buy one at any station, then manage top-ups and journey planning from your phone. Do not count on tapping a foreign bank card at the gates the way you would in London.
  • Timed tickets everywhere: Burj Khalifa's At the Top, Museum of the Future and Dubai Frame sell timed slots that regularly sell out - booking and QR entry all happen on your phone.
  • Tap-to-pay is universal for everything else - malls, restaurants, even small shops in Deira take contactless without blinking.

Arriving at DXB

Dubai International is one of the easiest arrivals anywhere: the Metro Red Line runs straight from Terminals 1 and 3 into Downtown and the Marina, and Careem or a metered taxi covers the rest. Install your eSIM before you fly and you are online the moment airplane mode goes off - right when the hotel confirmation, the Careem booking and the "we landed" WhatsApp messages all hit.

How much data do you need in Dubai?

Dubai is a sprawling, drive-scale city, so navigation runs constantly, and the skyline makes everyone a heavy uploader. Mall and hotel Wi-Fi is genuinely excellent - Dubai Mall alone can absorb hours of your browsing - which offsets some usage. Budget roughly 1GB per 2 days for maps, messaging and social; go bigger if you will video-call home on Botim or hotspot a laptop. One caveat: desert safaris head into real dead zones once you are out among the dunes, so download offline maps and your booking details before the 4x4 leaves the highway. For plan-by-plan detail, see the full UAE eSIM guide.

What to wear

Dubai runs on a simple split: resortwear belongs at the pool and the beach, and everywhere else - malls, the metro, old town souks - the comfortable advisory is shoulders and knees covered, for both courtesy and the arctic air conditioning. Mosque visits mean full modest dress; Jumeirah Mosque, the one open to non-Muslim visitors, lends traditional attire and headscarves at the door. In summer you live indoors, so pack for 45C outside and 20C inside. Winter evenings can actually want a light layer, especially on the water.

The photos everyone wants (and how to get yours)

The Burj Khalifa shot works best from the Dubai Mall waterfront by the Souk Al Bahar footbridge, timed to the fountain shows (evenings every 30 minutes from 6pm) - shoot upward with the water mid-burst. For old Dubai, ride an abra across the Creek at golden hour and shoot back toward the Deira wharfs from water level; the crossing costs about a dirham. The Palm only makes sense from above: The View observation deck on the 52nd floor of The Palm Tower frames the whole frond. Desert dunes want a sunset safari - book an afternoon departure so the golden hour happens on the sand, not on the highway. Leave the drone at home: Dubai bans recreational drone flights outright for visitors, and tourists cannot obtain the resident-only permit.

Fun facts

The Burj Khalifa is so tall you can watch the sunset twice - once from the ground, then again from the top, where the sun sets two to three minutes later; Dubai clerics even ruled that residents above the 80th floor must break their Ramadan fast later than the street below. The police fleet famously includes supercars, Bugatti and Lamborghini among them. And roughly nine in ten of the people around you are expats - Emiratis are a small minority in their own city.

Big events

Dubai Shopping Festival takes over the city from early December to mid-January - fireworks, concerts and citywide sales (the 2025-26 edition ran 5 December to 11 January). Ramadan shifts about 11 days earlier each year; visiting during it is genuinely interesting, and restaurants now serve during daylight, though discretion in public is appreciated and evenings erupt with iftar energy. New Year's Eve centers on the Burj Khalifa fireworks - spectacular, but Downtown gridlocks and mobile networks strain under a million phones going live at midnight.

Why people love it - and why some don't

The love is real: Dubai is one of the safest big cities anywhere, everything works, winter weather is flawless, and the sheer polish - airport to metro to mall - makes travel frictionless. The complaints are real too. June to September is a furnace where outdoor plans simply die. Outside the metro corridors the city is car-dependent sprawl, so budgets absorb a lot of Careem. Prices creep everywhere from brunch to attraction tickets. And some travelers find it manufactured - a city of malls and towers without street life. The counterargument lives in Deira and Al Fahidi, where the older, scrappier Dubai still trades.

FAQ: Dubai connectivity

Do WhatsApp calls work on an eSIM in Dubai?

No - the UAE blocks VoIP calls on local networks, and an eSIM uses those same local networks, so WhatsApp and FaceTime calls will not connect. WhatsApp messaging works perfectly. Install Botim, the licensed UAE calling app, for voice and video calls over your data.

Is there mobile signal on the Dubai Metro?

Yes - the metro is mostly elevated, and the underground stretch through Bur Dubai and Deira keeps coverage too, so maps and messages work door to door. Just remember you need a Nol card to ride; buy it at the airport station.

Can I rely on free Wi-Fi in Dubai instead of mobile data?

Malls and hotels have some of the best free Wi-Fi you will find anywhere, but Dubai's distances are the problem - you are constantly in taxis, on the metro or walking between towers, exactly where Wi-Fi is not. Use mall Wi-Fi to save data, but do not make it the plan.
